In Loving Memory and Honor of a dear friend Suzanne Motes!

Leslie Suzanne Motes went home to be with her Lord on Friday, March 21, 2008, after a courageous battle with cervical cancer. Suzanne was an inspiration to many as she fought with faith, courage and trust in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her smile was contagious and could light up a room and brighten everyone’s day. Suzanne accepted Christ on Mother’s Day of 1984, grew up in Crestview Church of Christ in Waco, and was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Carrollton. Her family is forever grateful for the countless prayers, visits, cards, notes and love expressed by those that were touched by her life.
Suzanne was born on March 15, 1971 in Waco, Texas and graduated from Robinson High School. She earned a Bachelors degree from Abilene Christian University and received a Masters Degree in Education from Texas A & M Commerce. She began her teaching and coaching career at Nimitz High School in Irving, moving to Bowie High School in Arlington, and then to Marcus High School in Flower Mound. She later coached and taught in Garland ISD before joining the Athletic Office for the district. She also worked for the North Texas Region of USA Volleyball and coached for Mid-Cities volleyball club. She later owned and developed Image Volleyball Club. Suzanne touched countless lives as a coach and teacher. Her strong sense of right and self-discipline inspired her girls and provided them a strong role model.
Suzanne is survived by her loving husband Mark and the light of their life their 13 month old son Ryan. Also surviving are parents Tom and Susan Catchings of Waco, grandfather, G.V. Simpkins of Sherman, in-laws, John and Marsha Motes of Sulphur Springs, sister and brother-in-law Kathy and Ezra Powell of Bryan, and sister-in-law Amanda Motes of Sulphur Springs. She is also survived by some very dear friends as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Jean Simpkins, and her paternal grandparents T.A. Catchings Sr. and Trudy Catchings.
In lieu of flowers, it was Suzanne’s desire that gifts in her memory be made to the Ryan Motes Scholarship fund.

In honoring Suzanne's wishes I will be running a series of races ranging from 5k's to marathon! My wish is to raise money to help with the college fund for Ryan. I am hoping with the help of my friends, family and many others I will be able to raise enough money to pay for 1 year of college for Ryan.

Please help by any amount you can.. All is greatly appriciated!! I will be keeping you posted via this website on my training and race results!! pictures too!!!

Please keep the Motes family in your prayers!
